Case study
Risk Management and Power BI
A branch of CASG realised that in order to strengthen their risk management function they needed to address risk gathering, analysis and reporting practices. The executive saw risk management as a crucial instrument for project success rather than a mere compliance task. They turned to BRG for help in resolving the problem and BRG proposed a comprehensive approach centred on risk data gathering and reporting, with risk data analytics identified as a critical factor for success.
BRG collaborated with the CASG branch to leverage their proprietary software and build the necessary technology infrastructure and reporting capabilities to improve the quality and quantity of risk data. They used their team’s extensive experience and contemporary technology skill sets to tackle the issues faced by the CASG branch, which was struggling to collect and present meaningful risk management information for their key programs and projects. They took a targeted approach and established a reliable and repeatable data infrastructure that aligned with Defence-wide risk categories and metrics to present key risk data. BRG also worked closely with project teams to re-energize them and revisit risk sources, emphasizing the importance of improving data gathering in terms of both quality and quantity. To achieve their objectives, BRG employed a tech stack comprising Predict v6, Excel, and Power BI.
Thanks to the collaboration, CASG’s risk management approach has become more proactive and effective. They can now detect potential risks earlier on in the project lifecycle and work towards mitigating them more efficiently. This enhanced method of risk management has resulted in better outcomes for projects such as increased productivity, lowered costs and satisfied stakeholders – proof that their commitment to managing risks is paying off.
